The California Scholarship Federation

Temescal Canyon High School Chapter

What is CSF?

CSF stands for the California Scholarship Federation, a non-profit honor society established in 1921 to recognize and honor outstanding high school students who have earned academic excellence.

What is the CSF motto?

The CSF motto is “Scholarship for Service.”  As members of CSF, we maintain high academic standards and work together to help others through group community service.

Who may apply for membership?

Any sophomore, junior, and senior who has earned A’s and B’s on their previous semester report card may apply, as long as they did not receive D’s or F’s.  Membership applications are accepted at the start of every semester – fall and spring.  Acceptance into membership is based on having earned excellent grades at the end of the preceding semester, and the points earned for those grades.  Grades earned in Honors, AP, and IB courses are worth additional points.

What is required of CSF members?

CSF members are required to attend 1-2 meetings per month, usually held at lunch on Tuesdays in room 575, where we discuss CSF scholarship opportunities, community service events, and other club news.  Our chapter is responsible for adhering to the CSF organization bylaws.

What are the benefits of being a member of CSF?

CSF members who have attained membership in at least four qualifying semesters are awarded the prestigious Life Membership designation through the CSF organization.  In addition, TCHS also awards to our longer qualifying members the CSF gold cords or stoles to wear over their gowns at graduation.  The CSF organization also offers scholarship opportunities to chapter members who qualify.  We have proudly had several TCHS CSF scholarship winners in the past.

What should someone do if they would like to find out more about CSF?
