Set Design

Theatrical set design is a creative and meticulous process that involves conceptualizing, planning, and constructing the physical environment in which a theatrical production takes place. Set designers collaborate closely with directors, playwrights, and other production team members to translate the script's vision into a tangible and visually striking setting, carefully considering aesthetics, functionality, and the practical aspects of staging. Through their intricate designs, set designers bring the imaginary to life, transforming a bare stage into a dynamic and captivating space that serves as a vital backdrop for the performers and the story they bring to life.

Theater has a rich history of collaboration between painters and play production. Artists such as Salvador Dali, Edvard Munch, and Pablo Picasso to name a few, have designed sets for the stage. When TCHS dropped its stagecraft class, the need for a set designer presented itself. Since then, Drawing and Painting students have been working closely with Drama students to create unique to the Temescal Canyon High School stage.
