Dear Students and Parents,
I would like to introduce you to our “Blended-learning” English class. The curriculum content of this Blended English 10 class parallels the traditional English 10 class and offers the same ‘A-G’ class credits as the traditional class; however, this class inspires independent learning exploration through the use of technology, supported by classroom support and activities.

As in traditional English classes, students will attend class daily, will use textbooks and novels, will be appropriately prepared and engaged, and will work with classmates to collaborate and apply learned material. Additionally, students will use IPADS and other useful electronic devices as tools for learning. For optimal success, throughout the course, students will need to participate in online lessons for class preparation.

The course content will include, yet will not be limited to the following: essay writing, reading literature and comprehension, writing mechanics, oral presentations, multimedia creation, vocabulary development, and the historical and social connections in English literature.

Students are expected to:
--Be in class on time, prepared to work.
--Thoughtfully and respectfully participate in class discussions and assignments independently, and when appropriate, with others. Students should bring writing tools and any literature required.
--Cell phones must be turned off and put away in backpacks, unless authorized by teacher.

Grades will be maintained and posted on Infinite Campus, with updates not to exceed two week intervals, with occasional extended periods for longer-range projects. Some assignments will be accepted late, at my discretion, and with possible reduction in points. A reduction of points will not occur, if late work is submitted within a reasonable time frame and due to a student’s excused absence. Submission or test makeups must be timely and scheduled with me.
