TCHS Dance Team Packet

 

CONGRATULATIONS! We are excited to start this wonderful journey with you all and welcome you to the 2022-23 TCHS Titan Dance Team!

General Information

Dance Team members must have technique, showmanship, strength, endurance, flexibility, dedication, a positive attitude, and a willingness to work hard and cooperate. Being a Titan Dance Team member is a lot of work and responsibility, not to be taken lightly, but is also very rewarding. 

The Varsity Dance Team performs during halftime, pregame and 1st quarter break at varsity home football games, at some home varsity basketball games, at pep rallies, at our Winter and Spring Dance Shows and competes at WCE/CADTD Dance Competitions. Competition Teams are subject to change if student is not meeting expectations. 

Due to performance conflicts at halftimes, pep rallies and competitions, Dance Team members must use discretion when choosing to participate in other teams/clubs on and off campus. Titan Dance Team must be your first priority and is a big time commitment. It is not fair to your teammates if you are not present for practices and performances.  Any significant conflicts will result in suspension from performance or even dismissal from the Dance Team. If student is not dancing up to coaches expectations, they will be removed from performances and/or competition teams. If dancer is unable to attend any competition due to scheduling conflict, they will be removed from competition teams.

 

SportsWare & Physical - You must have SportsWare filled out and Physical submitted in SportsWare prior to our first summer practice. Our season is Fall. 

 

May 21 @  8am- 11am PHYSICAL AT TCHS - Get your physical for the 22-23 school year. All activity clearance packets expire one year from the physical date.

Book hotel rooms under the discounted WCE group rate.  However, rooms may sell out ,so I always suggest booking hotel rooms as soon as team is solidified.

  • WCE Regionals or UDA January 28th 2023
  • WCE Regionals -  Temescal Canyon February 25th 2023
  • WCE Nationals - Long Beach March 10th & 11th 2023

 

Tentative: Costs

It is the intent of the Lake Elsinore School District and TCHS Dance Program to make it financially possible for any student to participate on Dance Team. Dance Team members will not be asked to pay for basic team necessities, such as, a competition team costume, or competition group fees. However, dance team apparel, camp fee and competition choreography may apply. For any additional costs we will fundraise for extra items to benefit the entire team. The Dance Team does depend on fundraising, each year which is necessary and crucial to sustain the program. Please plan on participating with 100% effort in organized team fundraisers. Dance Team apparel, and summer camp comprise the majority of member cost for joining dance team.

Rehearsals for Competition:

Rehearsals for Competition will have double 0 period every Wednesday and occasional Friday evenings during September-February.

Zero Period: Titan Dance Team meets during 0 period 6:30-7:15am Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday morning. Wednesday from 6:30 or 7:30-8:15am and 3:00-4:30pm attendance is mandatory. The official class time is 6:30am. The locker room is open each morning by 6:20am. Grading is categorized into two sections, attendance/participation/effort and performance which are 50% for each category. All class time rehearsals, and after school rehearsals and performances are mandatory. Students will be marked tardy and lose points if they are late for class.  You will be expected to have half soles or tennis shoes, depending on the style of dance, at every rehearsal and performance. (More details in the syllabus.)

Performances: All performances are mandatory; dancers will be receiving a full year calendar with all anticipated dates so they may plan accordingly. It is the dancers job to communicate any conflicts well in advance so if need be we can remove or accommodate the dancer in an emergency situation.
