Update from Dr. D'Amico

Good Afternoon Parents and Students,

This is Dr. D’Amico your principal,

I hope you are all staying safe and enjoying the summer as much as possible in this COVID environment.

As you know by now, due to the state and county mandates, all public schools in the state of California will be beginning all class, virtually, via distance learning.

The format and expectations will be much different than the system we had in place in the spring. All students, will be attending all classes, on-line, every day. Starting on day one, they will be accountable to attendance, assessments and performance. Which means all assignments will be graded and assessments will be given and counted and credit will be awarded based on their success and performance.

I know that this will be very new to us all. We are all super excited to get back to teaching and meeting the needs of our amazing students. I also know, we will all feel frustrated, angry, upset and out of sorts. But please know, we are all on the same page and in this together. I, as well as my administration team, teachers and staff, want to come back, on-site more than anything else in the world. We miss your kids, our students and our heartbreaks without them. But, we need to all be safe and stay healthy.

We are currently working on plans to do a SMART START as we always do, for our students, the first 2 days of school. In the next few weeks they will be given information as to where they will log in to get the needed training, day one of classes, on the CANVAS learning platform, ZOOM and TEAM meetings, work submission and more. All that will be explained and taught so our students won’t be left on an island to figure this out alone and we are doing everything we can to get them ready, set, prepared, and confident for this semester. Again, just be aware, as we are, that there will be internet issues, questions, mistakes, solutions and support. Please don’t get too worried or frustrated. There is nothing that will occur that can’t be fixed or addressed. We are here for you and your student success. Their success is our success and again, together we can do this.

As for questions and concerns you may have now, please email us at the emails below. We will not be on site until at least August 3rd, at the earliest and there is no one on site to take calls and messages. However, our whole admin. team is back at work and can assist. No question is a silly question and if asking it and getting a response eases your mind and potential anxiety, then let us know and we will do our best to get you the answers you need, if we have the information.

I just want to say welcome to the 2020 / 2021 school year and let you know we got this. It may be frustrating and ugly at times, but I promise, we will get through it, we are here for you, our priority is our students and we will make this work. I will update you regularly but please consult the district website for up to date information as well.

Have a great rest of your week.
