American Literature (Period 4)

Course Description

American Literature is a literary based class that is more rigorous than English 11, but not as challenging as AP Language and Composition. In this course you will read and write both inside and outside the classroom. You will also be working on developing your writing style, the mechanics of writing, and vocabulary, especially SAT vocabulary development. Along with the literature in the class anthology, you will read The Crucible-Arthur Miller, The Scarlet Letter-Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn-Mark Twain, The Great Gatsby-F. Scott Fitzgerald, and one novel for the final unit.
