Tuesday in ERWC we cleaned and organized our binders and started the new module, Juvenile Justice. We completed this writing assignment:
Our next module explores the issue of JLWOP (Juvenile Life Without Parole). This is the ability to sentence minors to life sentences for committing murder. What do you think about this? Should a 12 year old really be locked up for the rest of their life? What about the differences between kids and adults? Can a child reason the same way as an adult? Does a child truly understand long term consequences? Should we be handing out life sentences to kids, or are they more likely to be rehabilitated? Write about this for 20 minutes, then turn it in to the tray. 10 sentences minimum.
We also completed activities 1 and 2. Below you will find the module and the readings.
