Pre-IB/Advanced English 9 is a two semester course, which fulfills a graduation requirement, and is aligned to both the Common Core and California State Standards.  The course focuses on developing critical reading, writing, listening, speaking and thinking skills. During the year, we will explore a variety of fiction and nonfiction texts in the form of short stories, novels, articles, poems, dramas and epics. In addition, students will be responsible for weekly vocabulary tests, grammar lessons, a variety of writing assignments and other projects. Successful completion of this course will prepare students for IB and AP Language and Literature courses in their Junior and Senior years.
